“An Hospital for These People”: Community Relationships in the Construction of America’s First Psychiatric Hospital

My Master’s thesis was a multi-part project on the Public Hospital at Colonial Williamsburg. I worked with the museum to write and publish a free self-guided tour of the Historic Area which showcases community collaboration in the development and construction of America’s first psychiatric hospital. I also created a corresponding virtual tour. Finally, I wrote a paper on the historiography and methods of the project for other academic historians.
